In Brave New World, they lost their humanity to use machines to create greater efficiency. By using machines, the people in Brave New World lost their individuality in order to have greater efficiency. In their society, is based on efficiency, that the people only exist to create better machines to make things more efficient. For that reason, Postman is trying to move away from that society, so we can still have individuality, and still be efficient with technology.

Technocracy Versus Technopoly
What is the difference in technocracy and technopoly? Based on Neil Postman's article, he describe technocracy as people becoming machines, that people are under the subjects of technology. Postman then tells that Technopoly is when people uses technology efficiently while we are not subjected to the ever advancing technologies. When humanity starts to serve machines, they are in sense, losing humanity, they will lose the ability to feel emotion and to have agencies to choose. Postman describe in his article that we should stay away from technocracy and move towards technopoly instead. Postman argues that technopoly should "include the beliefs that the primary, if not the only, goal of human labor and thought is efficiency; that technical calculation is in all respects superior to human judgement." Postman says that human judgement is not perfect, and that human can not be trusted because of their tendency to be bias, and emotionally attached to things when making decisions. That is where Postman believes we should use the machines for greater efficiency and decision making.
